I love people, so much so that my BA is in Anthropology/Law and Society with a minor in Women's studies. When it came time to spread my wings after graduating from UC Riverside, I realized how much I enjoyed teaching others. I pursued a post-baccalaureate in multiple subject education at the University of Redlands, with an emphasis on social justice. When I completed the program, I moved back to my home city of Los Angeles. Although I needed to clear my credential in a K-8 setting, such positions were extremely difficult to come by in 2012. I ended up working in a private early childhood center in Pasadena. I enjoyed my time teaching there. A year later, I was offered a 5th grade teaching position in Yuma, Arizona, which I took. After three years there, I came back to Los Angeles to finally clear my credential as a middle school teacher in South LA. Middle school is a miserable place for everyone, and I inevitably pined for my E.C.E. days.
I eventually pivoted, returning to the preschool in Pasadena and took more child development classes at Glendale Community College. It was there that I was trained in anti-bias education by William Sparks, spouse of Dr. Louis Derman-Sparks, who popularized the concept. I was committed to the movement toward professionalizing the field of early childhood education.
Throughout the years, I have gained experience at a state-run preschool and a corporate preschool. I have training toward, and have passed, the Board Certified Autism Technician exam. I have my MA in Early Childhood Education Leadership. My last role prior to DIG was Lead Teacher at a social constructivist, reggio-inspired preschool in Santa Monica. I joined DIG in March 2026.
I enjoy the outdoors, the arts, thrifting, dopamine dressing, good coffee, good vegan food, a good laugh, and good company. I consider myself a multi-hyphenate: I am a preschool teacher, a writer, an artist, a reiki practitioner, and an event organizer. I am currently developing a program on a reggio-inspired "slow art" class for young children, which I will be teaching at Oops, Art Happens in Culver City by Summer 2026.
I have loved ones to share my colorful and vibrant life with. I have a wonderful partner who is a musician and your chummy Trader Joe's guy. I take care of my father with my older sister. I have warm, caring friends I consider chosen family. It is a pleasure to be part of the DIG community.
